Here are a few of the photos that we took at the beach..

Karate Evan

the goings-on with the Rogers Family
Well, shame on me. I read Stacey’s blog and noticed that she has posted numerous times just this summer. And my last post? November 2006… Yikes… and I have only four children not six to keep me busy. Oh well.
Our summer vacation consisted of several days in St. Augustine at Aunt Frances’ great beach house. Thanks so much Aunt Frances for letting us use it. We had a great time and took some wonderful pictures. (The header up there is one that Brian took from the balcony.) Our friends Whitney and Senaca went with us and their son Spencer tried to put the moves on FaithAnn.
Our household of six is getting ready to go back to school. This year we only have one school. Cason will be in 5th grade and Dustin will be in 3rd grade and both of those are at my school. I am excited that I will have them both with me for this one year. With one more week of summer vacation, we will try and have as much family time as possible. We may have a shopping trip to get ready for school, we may visit the waterpark, or we may just crash at home and enjoy what is left of our time off.
Well, as it has been almost three months since my last post, I figured it was about time to write something else.
We had a wonderful Halloween (see pictures). The boys were all dressed as Knights and little FaithAnn was a princess.
Nothing particularly exciting is going on, other than the everyday goings on of 6 people in one small house.
Cason and Dustin have Cub Scouts, Brian is CubMaster, I am a Den Mother, we all have church on Wednesdays and Sundays, I am slowly trying to finish a dissertation… all of that plus work, school, and daycare.
Dad had open heart surgery back in October, which threw us all for a loop, but he is recovering remarkably well – he only missed one Sunday of church and was back singing in the choir less than two weeks after his surgery (much to Mom’s dismay).
Well, as we have passed Thanksgiving (and a much needed break from school), we look forward to the Christmas season and all of the hustle and bustle that it brings. May yours be filled with Joy and Happiness.
God bless.

Well, finally, the perfect little person that we have been waiting on is here. FaithAnn Moring Rogers was born Tuesday afternoon at 12:47. She weighed 7 lbs, 6 oz and measured 19″ long. The doctor broke my water to induce labor at 8:15, but as with Evan, missed the actual birth. We came home yesterday afternoon and had an interesting evening with all the children.
Cason and Dustin, of course, adore their precious sister and want to hold her a lot. Evan is curious and smiles at her, but still wants her to move so that he can have my lap.
Once again, God has blessed us.

Well, we’re still waiting on this next baby to be born. I have obsessed for weeks about the delivery of this little girl, knowing that God has perfect timing. It’s hard to have faith and be patient when you feel like a beached whale, though.
All of the other babies were born early, and I still hope that this one will be, but I have to stop letting every other thought be about getting to the hospital. I imagine every scenario under the sun. I am terrified of being in public when I go into labor, or that Brian will be at work and I won’t be able to contact anyone to stay with the other children or to go to the hospital with me. I imagine myself loading up the three boys and heading to the hospital, not a fun thought. When these thoughts creep in, I have to remind myself that God will provide and that it will all happen in His time.
Well, Father’s Day has come and gone around here. Cason and Dustin were so excited that they couldn’t wait to give Brian his gift and just had to present it to him Saturday evening. Brian, being the great Dad that he is, showed just as much excitement over the slingshot that the boys got him as they did and they promptly went outside to shoot it.
Brian is a wonderful Dad, wrestling with all three boys and being the center of their world when he gets home in the evenings, even after a tiring day at work. He will even wait for his supper until after giving the three boys their bath. WOW.
They all went fishing yesterday afternoon along with Grandaddy on his new dock. They even all caught fish (except Grandaddy….) which caused much excitement. I took Evan out there to see them fishing and he walked from bucket to bucket so excited, but not willing to touch those big fish….
All in all, the men in my life had a great day yesterday….
Well, school has been out for a couple of weeks now, but where is my vacation? Cason and Dustin had boy scout camp the first week that we were out of school and I had to have them at the church by 8:15 each morning. So much for sleeping late. They had a good time, but usually came home cranky and arguing. Their theme was “Digging in the Dirt” and they spent time planting flowers and catching worms and such. What else does a boy want to do?
Near the end of that week, John and his children came for a brief visit, that turned in to a week-long adventure for the oldest 4 grandchildren as Andrew and Josh stayed when John and the rest of the family went back home.
Bible school was this past week. Again, I had to get up and get Cason and Dustin to our church by 9:00 and Evan to daycare before that. I helped with the music. We had a great time. Andrew and Josh came each day as well and the four boys had a blast as we had adventures on the “Arctic Edge”. Boy am I glad to be finished with those songs.
We spent each afternoon at Mom’s swimming and playing outside with Andrew and Josh. The boys caught lizards, played with Holly, and had loads of fun together.
All in all, it has been a great couple of weeks, but I am ready for some plain ole summertime laziness – to sit around and do nothing for at least a day or two.
Well, we have almost finished our first season with two ball players.
Cason has been playing Dixie Youth Baseball. We started the season as a Rookie with several veteran players on the team. He was excited about playing, although he didn’t know many teammates. As the season has progressed, his hitting and his fielding have improved greatly, but his excitement has waned. When I would tell him of a game on those afternoons, he would whine and complain and say it wasn’t fun, but yet during the game he always had a smile on his face. Well, after much discussion about having fun, we finally realized that it is the uniform he doesn’t like and complains about each game. “The socks are hot” he says. Well, the socks are part of the uniform, and the uniform is part of the game. We have won some, lost some, and tied some – all in all a pretty good season.
Dustin, on the other hand, has been playing T-ball. Well, if you want to have a good laugh, go to a T-ball game. Each inning, every child on the team gets to bat – outs aren’t tallied, and neither are runs. Both teams go home thinking they have won. Dustin LOVES T-ball. He is excited about every game and plays his heart out.
Brian and I take turns at most of these games. Sometimes we both make it, sometimes they have a game at the same time and we have to decide who goes where. Other times, we have ended up in the emergency room after Cason’s game getting stitched in Dustin’s face from a hit with a golf club (go figure) or I ended up at home with Evan with poop all over him and me. So…
The next two weeks have us playing ball 4 nights out of five, with church in the middle on the fifth. Whew, I will be glad when this ball season is over, though it has been quite an experience.
Well, I finally decided to let John set up the blog for me. Maybe this way I will keep things updated a litte better.
We’re on Spring Break this week, so I hope to get something accomplished towards my doctorate. I passed my proposal and hope to get the prospectus done soon.
Cason is in 2nd grade and is going to take the CRCT next week.
Evan has started walking, but he still prefers to crawl, although he does choose to walk on his knees sometimes.
Dustin was in the Kindergarten play last week as a farmer. He had the opening line of the play and did a great job.
Well, I guess that is it for a first post. I suppose that I will get the hang of this as I continue to work on it. Hopefully I will be able to keep it updated better this way.
